I love Beekle, an unimaginary friend and new book by Dan Santat. Even on a cold, gray, wintery day like today, the illustrations by Santat just beam with warmth and make me smile. Look at that doggie... really... does it get any cuter than that? Beekle is a simple story about finding friends. It's timeless and true to all of us. And once you read it, you'll want to go back and enjoy the amazing illustrations. I can't wait to use it in storytime. Hurray for good new books!

There's been much buzz lately about adults reading YA titles and (gasp!) enjoying them. YA books are edgy. They are funny. They are sad, disturbing, heartwarming, and sometimes downright awful. By and large YA books are just like every other area of books in the library. Go figure. To kick off summer reading for everyone, we've got a bunch of hot, new summer titles in this week. I'm excited to reach in and grab something new to try. Why don't you do the same? |
